Dr. Greg McWatt

Dr. McWatt earned his degree as Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the Ontario Veterinary College (OVC) in Guelph 1987, is the Owner and Director of Baywood South Animal Hospital and a partner and past board member of the Huronia Veterinary Emergency Clinic. He attends numerous conferences related to veterinary continuing education as well as courses in leadership, communication, and personal development.

Greg and his family live in the east end of Barrie where he’s an active community participant. A member and a past President of the Rotary Club of Barrie, a board member on leave for Canine Opportunity, People Empowerment (C.O.P.E.) he loves to play hockey, golf, travel and ride the single track mountain bike trails of Simcoe County.

Veterinarian & Owner

Dr. Melissa Gillard

Dr. Melissa Gillard graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2010. Upon graduation, she practiced in Thunder Bay before moving to Barrie in the spring of 2013. Dr. Gillard is an advocate of preventative medicine, appropriate dental care and enjoys working up complex cases. She takes pleasure in developing client relationships and helping owners understand their pet’s medical needs.

Dr. Gillard’s interests outside of veterinary medicine include paddling and exploring the outdoors with her husband and her son, John and John Jr. At home, she shares her house with her whippet, Infinitiand two cats, Pixel and Annie. Dr. Gillard looks forward to meeting you and your furry family members!

Veterinarian

Dr. Andrea Alfred

Dr. Alfred graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1998 and joined Baywood South Animal Hospital in September 2022. Dr. Alfred truly enjoys educating our clients to ensure they have the tools and information to provide the best care possible for their pet(s). Preventative care such as annual wellness examinations and vaccines, yearly fecal testing, regular bloodwork, and routine parasite prevention is of utmost importance to Dr. Alfred. Dr. Alfred enjoys relaxing with her cats Patches, Lucky, and Emma as well as spending time outdoors and traveling to far off destinations.

Veterinarian

Kerri

Kerri joined Baywood South Animal Hospital in September 2023 as a Client Services Representative and stepped into the Manager role in April 2025. She grew up surrounded by dogs and loves all big dogs! Kerri graduated from George Brown College from Catering Management in 2011 and after experiencing some career changes, Kerri began her career in veterinary medicine. Kerri loves growing her knowledge in animal care and client care. She enjoys cuddling all our patients and loves being the “treat lady”. Kerri can often be found at home cuddling her black labs, Ollie and Hunter, reading a book or finding new hobbies or projects to work on.

Hospital Manager

Karley

Karley joined the Baywood South team in July 2022 as a client care representative. Karley has always been an animal lover and has always been surrounded by animals while growing up. Karley graduated from Georgian College in 2020. After her career took a few twists and turns, Karley decided to pursue a career with animals. Being a client care representative at Baywood South allows her to combine that love of animals with her passion for client care. Karley looks forward to continuing her learning and improving her knowledge of client care and furthering her education within the veterinary field. At home, Karley can be found cuddling and reading with her 2 cats: Cookie and Fergie.

Client Care Representative

Nicole

Nicole started her journey as a Client Care Representative at Baywood South Animal Hospital in April 2025. After a career in mental health, she decided that a role in administration was better suited for her, which led her to pursue a different path. Guided by a love for animals, she enjoys working with clients and their furry companions.  She has a special place in her heart for cats! At home, you can find her cuddling with her cat Rita and watching her favourite sitcoms on Netflix.

Client Care Representative

Taylor

Taylor graduated with honours from the Veterinary Assistant program at Georgian College and returned to obtain her Veterinary Technician diploma. She completed her first placement with Baywood South Animal Hospital in the spring of 2021, and was asked to join the team shortly after. Taylor has always had a love of animals and an interest in science so working in the veterinary field was the perfect fit for her. Taylor loves meeting all of our patients and gives them lots of cuddles. When she’s not working Taylor enjoys video games, writing music, and spending time with her dogs Audrey, and Gary and cat Steve.

Registered Veterinary Technician

Amelia

Amelia joined the team at Baywood South Animal Hospital in July 2022 as a new graduate from the Veterinary Technician program at Seneca College, where she graduated with honours. Before attending school to become a veterinary technician, Amelia graduated from Trent University, where she received a Bachelor of Science degree with honours in Biology. Although her career path took a few twists and turns, Amelia could not be more thrilled to be working as a veterinary technician, and in areas that she loves including surgery, dentistry, patient care and continuing to use her biology degree in cytology. At home, Amelia likes to spend a quiet day with her husband, dog Wynrie, and her "trifecta" of cats: Alphonse, Bosco and Momo. She can often be found reading a book, crocheting (especially cat toys) or getting creative with her Cricut. Amelia can't wait to snuggle with your pets soon!

Registered Veterinary Technician

Damaris

Damaris joined the team at Baywood South Animal Hospital in June 2022. She is a recent graduate of the Veterinary Assistant program at Seneca College. Before pursuing a career in veterinary medicine Damaris obtained her diploma in Pre-Health Sciences at George Brown College. Her career took a twist during the COVID-19 pandemic when she had the opportunity to save two baby lovebirds, a baby wild rabbit, and had the privilege to help her brothers guinea pig give birth. After these incredible experiences she came to the realization that she wanted to pursue a profession in veterinary medicine. Damaris likes to spend her free time with her dogs Zola, Cutie, Diamond and Toro. Damaris loves her job and has returned to school to become a veterinary technician. She can’t wait to snuggle with your pets!

Veterinary Assistant

Sahina

Sahina is currently a biotech student at Georgian College and works as an Animal Care Attendant. She grew up in Nepal, where she helped on her family's farm and shared her life with two cats, Suri and Seti, and a dog, Eren. Her first cat, Suri, definitely ran the household. Seti now has two kittens, and Sahina video calls them, much like a proud long-distance mother. Her love for animals has only grown, and she is excited to keep learning and be a part of this beautiful team that makes every furry friend feel at home.
